NWGFC NEWSLETTER

OCTOBER 2018

Dear Members

Our year overall has been very successful with most groups achieving their objectives. The enjoyment has been excellent along with good results in the eskys. The Marcus Hickey group were able to have wonderful success chasing Pelagic species during their week.

Great catch team.
Lots of groups have also been spending time improving their skills with many strikes and raisings. Harley is keen to chase Sails and Marlin , and his growing knowledge improves each groups chances of success. I am sure good weather helps as the water becomes warmer.
Ken Thomas’s group brought a Sail to the boat this  week which was excellent team work.
I look forward to producing a full report during the end of season functions.

Island Report
The island  is functioning well but we have had some extra expenses this year not earlier anticipated. We had  tractor maintenance , dinghy motor replacement, ice machine replacement , freezer replacement, vacuum machine maintenance and some others.
Next year we will need to replace the dinghy  and add additional concrete repair which will mean the last two years capital expenses will be above normal.
Otherwise the committee will continue to provide improving services to members whilst being mindful of weekly costs.

Gary Dennett construction engineer, Buck Rogers transport manager, Steve Milne surveyor, Mosig bull ant and the rest of his little ants completed the right hand wall.

I’m happy to report that the vacuum machine did have some damage to a tube and since repair is operating perfectly again. Thanks to those who brought this to our attention ,it was difficult to isolate and well done Harley who organised repair. Also the oven had a problem not being hot enough which has been corrected. Thanks Blakey for your report regarding the oven – wisdom comes in all sizes.
Fresh water system still functions well but remember members it’s easy to run short , one shower a day please.

Shirts still available
More have arrived from the factory. $35 is a bargain for this quality.
They are really cool to wear. Please remember - WASH FIRST , they soften up nicely.

Sinkers
The sharks are winning, our usage has been well above our expectations. Any comments will be appreciated.

Soft plastics and jigs are a good option instead of traditional methods --maybe
